Μεγάλη επιτυχία γνωρίζει το κομμάτι “Rich Men North of Richmond”, του μέχρι πρότινος άγνωστου τραγουδιστή της κάντρι, Όλιβερ Άντονι (Oliver Anthony), το οποίο φαίνεται να έχει κεντρίσει και την προσοχή πολιτικών στις ΗΠΑ, για τους καταγγελτικούς του στίχους.
Ένας μέχρι πρότινος άγνωστος τραγουδιστής της κάντρι, ο 30χρονος Όλιβερ Άντονι (Oliver Anthony), εκτοξεύτηκε στην κορυφή των τσαρτ στις ΗΠΑ, αφού οι στίχοι του “Rich Men North of Richmond” χτύπησαν ευαίσθητες χορδές αγροτών και εργατών στην αμερικανική ύπαιθρο.
Το τραγούδι που κυκλοφόρησε στις 11 Αυγούστου στο YouTube έχει περισσότερες από 41 εκατομμύρια προβολές και έχει γίνει ύμνος των κατοίκων υποβαθμισμένων περιοχών των μεσοατλαντικών, μεσοδυτικών και νότιων πολιτειών, οι οποίοι αισθάνονται αδικημένοι έναντι των πλούσιων αστών της ανατολικής και δυτικής ακτής.
Η πρωτοφανής επιτυχία ήταν τέτοια που το τραγούδι “Rich Men North of Richmond” άνοιξε την Τετάρτη στο Fox News το ντιμπέιτ μεταξύ οκτώ υποψηφίων για το χρίσμα των Ρεπουμπλικάνων στις προεδρικές εκλογές – από το οποίο απουσίαζε ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ. Ο κυβερνήτης της Φλόριντα Ρον ΝτεΣάντις έκανε λόγο για τραγούδι αποδοκιμασίας της οικονομικής πολιτικής του Δημοκρατικού προέδρου των ΗΠΑ Τζο Μπάιντεν.
